A few feeble excuses...

I've got a few very feeble excuses as to why I haven't been training that much over the last couple of weeks or so.  If you look at my calendar for September, you can see that I had a patch of 7/8 days where I didn't do any training at all.  The only excuses I have are that I've been busy at work and also went on a stag do to Edinburgh on the weekend of 9-12 September.  Anyway, when I was able to I managed to get to the gym on 14 and 15 September, and also went out for a 5-mile run this morning, so I'm pleased to back into it again.

I have got a slight target in mind of trying to get to around 14st (I'm currently 14st 4) in four weeks time, as it's my mates wedding then.  I'm the Best Man and don't want to stand out too much in the photos!

Talking of Edinburgh, a colleague at work is getting into running, having completed his first 10k this year, and subsequently ran 3 or 4 others 10k's this year too.  He's talking of doing the Rock 'n' Roll Edinburgh Half Marathon next year, so I'll be keeping an eye our for him.

Keeping up with the training and an x-ray!

I've been keeping up the training when I can, and on Monday I went to the hospital to get an x-ray on my hips.  The consultant diagnosed me with FAI, which in my area is not operated on.  I did get an x-ray of it, but it seems a bit odd posting on here, so I won't.  The comment "FAI is common in high level athletes, but also occurs in active individuals", from that article made me smile.

In summary though, I can keep training and doing plenty of stretching, and go back to my GP to get referred again if it gets any worse.
